Graduation FAQ
*Rules apply to all graduations
Will the graduations be streamed?
The 2024 Graduation Live Streams will become live just prior to the beginning of each individual ceremony. Check back closer to the graduation dates for the link to the live stream.
What if I need to get something to my graduate?
Once the graduate has entered the building and is checked in with their school we can no longer allow any access to them until the ceremony is over.
Do I need a ticket to attend graduation?
Yes, you must have a ticket to attend graduation. Tickets are issued through each high school. If there are extra available tickets they can be obtained at the ticket booth located in front of the Merrell Center. Extra tickets can not be obtained in advance and, if available, can be picked up when doors open for your graduation. If tickets are available there is a limit of 4 tickets per person.
What do I do if I'm attending and no tickets are available?
The Merrell Center will provide an overflow seating area in the Board Room of the Education Support complex. This room will have a live video stream of the graduation available to view. When you arrive please see a member of the usher staff for directions to the overflow room.
Is food allowed in the arena?
No outside food or drink allowed in the Merrell Center. Graduates will be issued water in their holding areas before graduation.
Do you have handicap seating?
Yes, we do have handicap seats available. These seats are limited on the concourse level. There will also be additional handicap seating on the floor.
Do you provide wheelchairs?
We do have wheelchair escorts. However, due to a limited number of wheelchairs, the wheelchairs may not remain with you during the ceremony.
When may I enter the Merrell Center?
One hour and 15 minutes prior to the ceremony.
Are the seats reserved?
No, the seats are not reserved and saving seats is limited to one extra seat per person.
Do you have elevators?
Yes, we have two elevators located at each side of the south lobby.
Do you have a handicap guest drop off?
We have a handicap parking area adjacent to building, parking is limited so plan accordingly.
Will interpreters be available for the hearing impaired?
There may be an interpreter at the graduation at the high school's request. An interpreter is not guaranteed.
How long is the graduation ceremony?
Approximately 2 hours
What is the cost of parking?
It is free to park. Parking is limited and you may have to walk a sizable distance depending on your parking spot.
May I bring a camcorder into the ceremony?
Yes, you may bring a camcorder. However, tripods and other professional equipment is prohibited. No cords are allowed in any walkway or seat. No blocking of aisles and walkways with any camera equipment.
How do I purchase a DVD of the ceremony?
Please contact your high school to purchase graduation DVDs
May I bring a camera into the graduation?
Yes, however professional photography equipment such as tripods/lights/shades/cords are prohibited. DSLR Cameras are also permitted. The Merrell Center has standing areas at the north end of the arena to take pictures. Standing and blocking the view of those around you is not permitted. Please be courteous of others.
May I bring a stroller to the ceremony?
No strollers are allowed inside the arena. You will be able to check in strollers at our guest services table.
Baby carriers will be allowed in the arena during the ceremony, please keep all baby carriers out of aisles and walkways.
Which entrance should I use to enter the Merrell Center?
You may use the main south entrance into the building. This is the entrance facing I-10. All other entrances will be unavailable.
The following items are prohibited in the arena but can be checked in at our hospitality table:
Balloons
Signs larger than 2'x2'
Banners
Flowers
The following items are not allowed in the building and will be confiscated if used.
Air horns/ Noisemakers
Laser Pointers
Where do I meet my graduate after the ceremony?
You can meet your graduate outside of the Merrell Center, typically by the west entrance.
