Katy ISD Mission Statement
In partnership with parents and community, the Katy Independent School District,
as a premier district in the state of Texas, seeks academic excellence for each
student to pursue a productive and fulfilling life through a balanced curriculum
aligned with quality instruction and assessment of achievement.
The Business of Katy ISD
Katy ISD is a flourishing suburban school district that encompasses 181 square
miles in east Texas. Its eastern boundaries stretch to Houston's energy corridor
approximately 16 miles west of downtown Houston and extend along Interstate 10
to a few miles west of the city of Katy.
In the 2006-07 school year, the
projected student enrollment has grown to more than 50,000 served by 44 schools
including six high schools.
Rated as Recognized by the Texas Education Agency, Katy ISD offers an outstanding instructional program with facilities, equipment
and materials that are among the best in the state.

metro area and one of the fastest-growing in the state. Projections show
a steady upswing throughout this decade, with total enrollment topping
83,000 by Fall 2015.

Katy ISD adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for maintenance
and operations than last year's tax rate.
The 2006-07 tax rate, adopted by the Board of Trustees on September 25,
2006, is $1.815 - lower than the tax rate that was in effect for 2005-06. The rate includes
$1.485 for maintenance and operations and $.33 for debt service.
